Atlassian's Connect platform reaches end of support in Q4 2026. If your team writes Confluence pages in Markdown through a Connect app, this guide shows how to find those pages and move them to a Forge macro, one page at a time, with nothing lost.
Atlassian stopped accepting new Connect apps in September 2025 and stopped accepting Connect descriptor updates in March 2026. At end of support, in Q4 2026, installed Connect apps keep working but receive only critical or security fixes, and Atlassian has said it will notify customers in the Marketplace (Atlassian's announcement).
Markdown macros are easy to forget: someone installed one years ago, and now it sits on READMEs, runbooks and release notes that many people read. Moving them before anything breaks takes a few minutes per page.
markdown and whose Markdown is typed into the macro body. The steps below are written for it, and work the same for any macro that keeps its Markdown in the page.
Confluence's query language (CQL) can list every page that contains a macro by name.
The query is macro = "markdown" and type = page. The simplest way to run it:
while logged in to Confluence, open this address in the same browser, replacing
your-site with your site name:
https://your-site.atlassian.net/wiki/rest/api/search?cql=macro%3D%22markdown%22%20and%20type%3Dpage&limit=100
The browser shows the matching pages, each with its title and link. That list is your migration checklist; it only includes pages you are allowed to see, so run it as an admin. When the same address returns an empty list, the old macro is no longer used anywhere.
Markdown Viewer is one of the three macros in API Docs Macros for Confluence, a Forge app with the Runs on Atlassian badge: it renders inside your Confluence page and makes no external network calls. Both apps can be installed at the same time, so you can migrate gradually.

/markdown and insert Markdown Viewer..md file to the page (drag it onto the page while editing).diagram.png, are taken from the page's attachments.| Topic | With Markdown Viewer |
|---|---|
| Where the Markdown lives | Pasted into the macro, or a .md / .markdown / .txt page attachment. |
| Syntax | CommonMark with tables, fenced code blocks, task lists (- [ ] / - [x]) and automatic links. |
| Code blocks | Monospaced and scrollable. Syntax colouring is not available yet; if your pages rely on a highlighting style, check them after moving. |
| Raw HTML inside Markdown | Shown as text, never executed. |
| Images | Relative paths resolve to page attachments. External image URLs show their alt text, because the macro never fetches anything from outside Confluence. |
| PDF and Word export | Exports native headings, lists, tables and code blocks with the page. |
| Dark mode | Follows each reader's Confluence theme. |
| Language | Interface in English and Spanish, following each reader's Confluence language. |
When the search from step 2 returns no pages, uninstall the old app from Settings → Apps → Manage apps. Questions about a specific page? Write to support@corventia.com and we will help.
